Star Chef Jobs description
Star chefs work in hotels that are usually four starred and above. They have a very demanding job and often have to be on their toes throughout the day. Which is why, star chefs need to have good presence of mind and the ability to work under pressure.Expertise for a star chef\'s job usually involves two to four years of directly related study, training, and/or experience in order to satisfactorily carry out the responsibilities of the job. Star chefs do an exhaustive list of things which includes: supervising, coordinating, and participating in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking foods in hotel, restaurant, cafeteria, or other establishment; estimating food consumption, and requisitioning or purchasing foodstuffs; receiving and examining foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications; selecting and developing recipes based on type of food to be prepared and applying personal knowledge and experience in food preparation; supervising personnel engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods; cooking or otherwise preparing food according to recipe; cutting, trimming, and boning meats and poultry for cooking; portioning cooked foods, or giving instructions to workers as to size of portions and methods of garnishing; and carving meats.
Star chefs may maintain time and payroll records; may employ, train, and discharge workers; may supervise kitchen staff, plan menus, purchase foodstuffs, and not prepare and cook foods.
